The foundation

The Baasch-Medicus Foundation was founded in 2001 by Dr. phil. Lotte Medicus (died 2010) and the Swiss Neurological Society (SNS). It goes back to a legacy from the neurologist Dr. Ernst Baasch, which was passed on to the SNS. Dr. Medicus, who was well acquainted with Dr. Baasch, provided the other part of the founding capital. The foundation became a co-heir to Dr. Medicus' estate. During her lifetime, Dr. Medicus was a member of the Board of Trustees.

The purpose of the foundation is to recognize and promote special achievements in the field of neurology. The support provided by the Foundation takes the form of financial contributions. It can support projects that promote neurological research and teaching as well as clinical training. The foundation's activities must have a connection to Switzerland. According to current foundation practice, grants are awarded: see "Downloads".

The Foundation is supervised by the Swiss Federal Supervisory Authority for Foundations.

The foundation has organizational and awarding regulations.

The Board of Trustees currently consists of seven people, including five specialists in the field of neurology.

The Foundation is recognized as a charitable foundation and is tax-exempt in the Canton of Zurich and the Swiss Confederation (last confirmed by decree dated 14 December 2001).

The registered office of the Foundation is located at RA Dr. Max Walter, Bickelstrasse 3, 8942 Oberrieden, (M) 079 959 16 90 max.walter(at)sswlaw.ch
